At The Durham Life, we believe that life should be filled with joy and community spirit. We're thrilled to sponsor the 2nd Annual Durham Duck Hunt, an event that brings families together for some wholesome fun and adventure.
Tanya Gordon, Realtor and long-time resident of Whitby, Ontario, shares, "I've called Whitby home for over two decades and bought my first property at 25. I know the local market well and deeply appreciate the joy of homeownership. One of the many ways I fill my cup is by giving back to the community."
Giving back to the community is at the heart of The Durham Life. We’re dedicated to not only helping people find their dream homes but also to fostering a vibrant, supportive community. We believe that events like the Durham Duck Hunt are essential in building strong community bonds. By sponsoring such events, we aim to create spaces where families can come together, have fun, and make lasting memories.
How It Works: Durham Duck Hunt 2024
Mark your calendars for June 7-9th! A whopping 2,000 little rubber duckies are getting ready for their debut across Durham Region. Here’s how you can join in the fun:
- Duck Placement: With the help of amazing volunteers, 2,000 ducks will be placed around parks, playgrounds, and participating shops throughout Durham Region.
- Clues: Clues to the ducks' locations will be posted in @funfromamombun and @the.durham.life Instagram stories, so be sure to follow along!
- Hunt: Families are encouraged to visit their local parks and search for the ducks.
- Duck Rules: All ducks are numbered and tagged. To ensure everyone gets a chance, please only take ONE duck per household.
- Claiming Prizes: If you find a duck, message @funfromamombun on Instagram with the duck’s number to see if it’s a winner! If your duck is a winner, you will receive instructions on how to claim your prize.
More details will be shared: @funfromamombun and @the.durham.life. Happy hunting!
Meet Katie: Creator of the Durham Duck Hunt
Katie is a dedicated content creator specializing in children's play and family-friendly activities. Her passion for this field began when she owned a Play Centre in Whitby. Although the Play Centre closed during the pandemic, it inspired Katie to create content that helps families find fun activities.
Katie’s inspiration for the Durham Duck Hunt came from her daughter’s love for ducks and her own desire to plan engaging kids' events. She started by placing little ducks around town, and in just three weeks, the Durham Duck Hunt was born with 600 ducks. The event quickly gained popularity and opened many doors for her and her family. This year, the event expanded to 2,000 ducks.
Katie is excited about the event’s growth and deeply grateful for the community’s support. Covering areas from Toronto to Kingston, she remains focused on Durham Region, where she was born and raised.
As we gear up for this year's Durham Duck Hunt, be on the lookout for me quacking around Durham, placing ducks. Join us in celebrating the community spirit that makes Durham Region special.
